Rocky on Ice

From a series featuring virtual stand-ins for IRL seabirds I sponsor through the internet. Rocky is a Northern Rockhopper Penguin who was rescued by SANCCOB in South Africa as a juvenile penguin ten years ago. She currently resides at Cape Town Center Home Pen with other African penguins and seabirds.

Sponsors support the care and conservation of seabirds impacted by climate change, overfishing, oiling, predation and human disturbance. While the goal is for the rescued seabirds to be rehabilitated and released back into the wild, I was informed that Rocky cannot be, "owing to the risk of her carrying a possible endemic back to her colony in the south Atlantic Ocean”.
