Renewal is an essential part of the human experience; from making resolutions to improve specific parts of ourselves, to the concept of ‘turning a new leaf’ in our future lives. The laundromat, as a public place of purification of some sorts, is a physical representation of the importance of renewal in human life. This is embodied by the act of taking dirty laundry, our personal artifacts of deterioration, to the laundromat to be cleaned and cleansed. Whether it's working to stay sober for a period, regaining energy after burnout, or even something else, we encounter other pilgrims in the 'laundromat.’ In the journey to find this renewal, we form a connection with those we are brave enough to share our stories with.
