Luminalis Phantasmagoria, derived from Latin 'lumen' (light) and Greek 'phantasmagoria' (magical apparition), is a rare butterfly distinguished by spectacular bioluminescence. It has a delicate wingspan up to 10 cm and a slender body under 2 grams. Its wings exhibit intricate patterns of vibrant oranges, purples, and pale yellows, outlined by faint luminous edges and drip-like extensions suggesting fluid motion. Bioluminescence, within the 470-530 nm spectrum, produces a soft blue-green glow accentuating veins and marginal scales during nocturnal gliding. This trait, consistent with Fluorescentum Mystica, likely aids communication or mate attraction in dim rainforest canopies (20-30°C). It belongs to Bioluminescent Lepidoptera, comprising 20 species, and is under active investigation for its ecological, bioluminescent, and evolutionary roles.
